Culture and art tours, music events, exchanges of experiences. The Council of Europe is reviving Mozart’s bicentenary, which began on January 27th in Salzburg, the Austrian city where the great composer was born. In particular, the Continental Organisation, which brings together 46 states, supports the "European Mozart Ways", which "were used to outline 17 tours, standing for the 17 travels the genius of music made all over Europe". Around this ideal culture tour are the ten countries that established the initiative in 2002: Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, United Kingdom, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Switzerland. Peter Kurz, president of "European Mozart Ways", explains that "the main benefit of this network of culture tours is the opportunity to exchange experiences" and information (which is available at www.mozartways.com) about concerts, visits, exhibitions. One of the first successes of the initiative is the creation of the "Mozart Orchestra", founded and directed by Claudio Abbado, and the exhibition "Salieri on the tracks of Mozart" in Vienna. Kurz specifies that "over 1,500 events have been planned, which not only bring people to the culture capitals but also enable them to explore unknown aspects of the Austrian genius’s life".
