IRELAND: MGR. BRADY, “ONLY CHRIST’S TRUTH EDUCATES CONSCIENCE” AND “PROMOTES MAN’S DIGNITY”

” ““Civil law lays down basic principles, but it takes something more to build a society that is really inclusive, welcoming and respectful of people of different cultures, languages and customs”. This was stated by the archbishop of Armagh, Seán Brady, in his message for the Day of Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, which falls today, March 17th. “Next week – stated the archbishop in his message – will be the Intercultural Week, promoted by the Northern Ireland Commission for Equality along with the National Advisory Committee for Racism and Interculturalism”. A meeting “aimed at increasing the involvement and the sense of belonging of people coming from ethnic minorities”. “What we really need – specified mgr. Brady – is the announcement and the real testimony of Christ’s truth, a truth that was brought to our country by Saint Patrick”, because “only Christ’s truth educates conscience and promotes man’s real dignity”. “Its Day – commented the bishop – unites the Irish all over the world, because he is the symbol of our history and heritage”. “Twice migrant in our land – concludes Brady – after the first, shy attempt, Patrick surprisingly came back again”. And he, who called himself “an uncouth and ignorant refugee”, was “mysteriously chosen by God’s Providence”.
