” “The second World Congress of Imams and Rabbis for Peace will be held in Seville from 19th to 22nd March. The event has been promoted by “Hommes de Parole”, an independent trust with branches in Switzerland, France and Israel, which works through publications, congresses and conferences in order to serve people who are in a state of conflict. The first World Congress of Rabbis and Imams took place from 3rd to 6th January 2005 in Brussels. The Spanish meeting will be attended by 150 imams and rabbis from all over the world, plus Christians, experts, observers and specialists. The goal of the meeting explained the promoters is to promote exchanges and talks between Jewish and Muslim religious leaders to build up a climate of mutual trust”; offering these people a chance “to use their authority to settle conflicts in different regions of the world” and help them “face the challenge of the fanatics, who are distorting religion”. The meeting will be attended by 53 rabbis, 62 imams and 71 experts. The list includes such countries as Great Britain, France, Turkey, Israel, Iran, Jordan. Italy will be present through Yahya Sergio Yahe Pallavicini, vice-president of Coreis, Giuseppe Laras, the Rabbi of Milan, and Ariel Di Porto, the Rabbi of Rome.
