SPAIN: A BISHOP TO THE YOUNG WHO WISH TO BECOME PRIESTS, “SEND ME AN EMAIL”

” “In Spain, mgr. José Manuel Lorca Planes, bishop of Teruel and Albarracín, has very clear ideas: if a youth of the diocese wishes to become a priest, he just has to write an email and speak about it with him (pastoralvocacionalteruel@hotmail.com). The bishop reminds the young that the Church “needs you, as the future priests, to build this world of colours and hopes”. In a letter written on the Seminar Day, which falls on March 19th in Spain, he highlights how much “we need witnesses of God’s love and forgiveness to discover the beauty of being a priest, the bearer of God’s Word and the bestower of the Sacraments of life”. “If you make up your mind, write or go to the web page of the Diocese (www.diocesisdeteruel.org), at the ‘Vocation Pastoral’ section, and send an e-mail”, he suggests. In his speech, he explains to the young that “if this vocational campaign on Saint Joseph’s Day did not exist, we should invent it, so that we become aware of the great need for priests”. “You, young people, also know that we are living in an unruly world – writes the bishop. Many of you say this shallow lifestyle does not fulfil you and you say it is not easy to find your way, surrounded as you are by alcohol, drugs, an easy and comfortable life”. “Many people are sick of this emptiness – he realises – and have already taken action to get out of this slavery, in search of a cleaner horizon”.
