The gift of "Holy Communion" is a "remedy for any loneliness", without which "the fragmentation of mankind is unavoidable". This was stated by Benedict XVI in his usual Wednesday catechesis, which today has taken place in Saint Peter’s Square in a nice sunshine with over 37,000 people from all over Italy and from every part of the world. The gift of Holy Communion, highlighted the Pope, "is expressed by brotherly relations" and "pulls us out of our loneliness and withdrawal". "It’s easy to understand how big this gift is he specified if we just think of the fragmentation and conflicts that affect relations between individuals, groups and whole peoples. ‘Holy Communion’ is really good news as a remedy for any loneliness that threatens everything today, the precious gift that makes us feel welcome and loved in God". "At the time of the earthly pilgrimage he added the disciple, through communion with the Son, can already partake of the divine life of His and His Father". In this way, he concluded, "the Church turns out to be a wonderful creation of love, made to bring Christ close to every man and woman who really want to meet Him until the end of all time". Speaking to the groups in different languages, the Pope then made some special greetings: to the Poles, he recalled that "Lent is the occasion to overcome our selfishness, our divisions and our quarrels". Then he exhorted some young Croatians from Osjjek "not to be afraid" of believing and "to consecrate your lives to Christ, sharing with Him your happiness and your problems".
