BENEDICT XVI: THE DAY OF VOCATIONS, “HUMAN WEAKNESS AND LIMITATIONS” ARE NOT AN “OBSTACLE TO GOD’S CALL”

“The sanctity of the Church basically depends on the union with Christ and the opening to the mystery of the grace that works in the heart of the believers". This was stated by Benedict XVI in his Message for the 43rd World Day of Prayer for Vocations that will fall on next May 7th. "To respond to God’s call and set off, one doesn’t have to be perfect already", explains the Pope, because "human weakness and limitations are not an obstacle, provided they help make us more and more aware of the fact we need Christ’s redeeming love”. According to the Pope, it’s God’s love that "changes man’s heart". A love that "during the centuries" has driven "many men and women" to devote themselves "to the cause of the Kingdom". A "multiplicity of vocations that have always existed within the Church", as shown by the evangelical figures of the disciples, the apostles and the women recalled by Benedict XVI. (to be continued)
