"Never forget, dear boys and girls, that your happiness depends on the encounter and friendship with Jesus", that’s the central message of the Pope, according to whom "not always, in this time of ours, do the new technology and mass media promote personal relations, sincere dialogue, mutual friendship", or even less "the intimacy of one’s relation with God". On the contrary, the young need the "apostolate of friendship" recommended by San Josemaría Escrivá, the founder of Opus Dei", who said that "every Christian is welcome to be God’s friend and, with His grace, attract his friends to Him". And it is just to this "apostolate of friendship" that Benedict XVI called the young, by repeating to them the words of the WYD of Cologne: "Those who have discovered Christ cannot help taking others to Him, since a great joy is not to be kept for oneself but shared". "If you cultivate your friendship with Jesus, if you are devoted to your sacraments, in particular the Sacrament of Penance and Eucharist it is the final exhortation of the Holy Father you will be able to become the new generation of apostles, rooted in the word of Christ, able to respond to the challenges of our time and willing to spread the Gospel everywhere".
