FAMILY: BENEDICT XVI RECEIVES IN AUDIENCE THE “JOHN PAUL II INSTITUTE FOR MARRIAGE AND FAMILY” ON THE 25TH ANNIVERSARY OF ITS FOUNDATION (1)

” ““Marriage and family are rooted in the innermost core of the truth about man and his fate”: this was said this morning in the Vatican by Pope Benedict XVI, in his speech at the audience with the members of the meeting “The heritage of John Paul II about marriage and family: loving human love”, that was held to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the foundation of the “John Paul II Papal Institute for Studies on Marriage and Family”. Benedict XVI mentioned that “the dawn of the Institute is related to a very special event: it was just on May 13th 1981 in Saint Peter’s Square that my beloved predecessor, John Paul II, suffered the notorious, terrible assault during the audience in which he should have announced the establishment of your Institute”. Then, the Pope added that “the idea of ‘teaching how to love’ was already in the mind of the young priest Karol Wojtyla and then it thrilled him …” until he came, in the first few years of his papacy, to his “Catecheses on human love”.
