CEI MEETING: CARD. RUINI, “THE POPE’S GUIDANCE IS PRECIOUS TO FIND THE MEASURE OF REAL HUMANISM”

” “Italians “feel” how “precious” the Pope’s guidance is “to strengthen faith in Jesus Christ”, to “live love and thus let God’s light seep into the world” and “to find in Christ the measure of real Humanism”. This was said this morning by card. Camillo Ruini, president of the Italian Bishops Conference, in his address to Benedict XVI on the occasion of the Audience of the Holy Father at the General Meeting of Cei, which is under way in the Vatican City. “As to the measure of real Humanism, and therefore those ‘non-negotiable principles’ that concern the promotion and protection of human life, the family based on marriage and not on any other forms of union, the parents’ right to educate their children – added card. Ruini -, the Magisterium of Your Holiness, to which as Bishops we add our voice with the greatest conviction, is welcomed by the people as an enlightening and essential landmark, at a time in which the fundamental truths inscribed in our being are questioned”. “The reactions and polemics against the lesson of the Church, which sometimes come in particularly inappropriate forms – commented the Cei President -, in fact make it even more apparent that a clear and brave word is needed: Holy Father, for this reason, we are even more grateful to you”.
