” “A forget-me-not to commemorate today the many children that have disappeared in Europe and across the world. It is an initiative promoted by the European Commission, which commemorates today, May 24th, the World Day of Disappeared and Sexually Abused Children. The Day has been inspired “by a spirit of solidarity with those who have suffered or are suffering the tragedy of a disappeared child”, reads a release from the European Commission. To emphasise the event and raise public awareness of the subject, Franco Frattini, European Commissioner for Justice, Freedom and Security, will speak today to the press in Brussels and will ask the public and the official staff to bring a forget-me-not as a sign of solidarity with the children’s families.
