Then, Benedict XVI went on by recalling that "In this very place, a solemn funeral ceremony was dedicated to the great Primate of Poland, Cardinal Stefano Wyszyñski. In these days, we are celebrating the 25th anniversary of his death". After recalling the unshakeable faith of Wyszyñski, Benedict XVI added: "Today, we must thank God for the major changes introduced in your Homeland and in the whole world, during the pontificate of John Paul II. Entire political, economical and social systems changed in front of our eyes. In several countries, the people re-acquired freedom and a sense of dignity".
