"The promotion of the Bible, the shared commitment of Catholics, Protestants and Orthodox people" is the title of the research that is about to be presented on Monday June 26th (at 11 am) in Rome, promoted by Società biblica universale (Abu, through the national Biblical Societies of Italy, Spain and France. The research closes a three-year plan that had been started in 2001 by Abu, to explore the attitude of Catholics towards the Bible and their interest in supporting plans for spreading the Bible in their native countries and abroad. "The purpose stated Abu is to achieve the widest, effective spreading of the Holy Scriptures and help people interact with God’s Word. The Biblical Societies try to work in cooperation with all the Christian Churches. So the purpose was to get a better understanding of the Catholic world to further strengthen cooperation". The research was led by sociologist Luca Diotallevi from the university of Roma Tre, who put forward two cues for a more intensive research work: a survey by Eurisko about public opinion (650 people in Italy, France and Spain) and some extensive interviews with Catholic Church leaders of the three countries, with a final assessment of the information collected. The presentation will also be attended by Miller Milloy, world secretary of Abu, and by mgr. Vincenzo Paglia, president of the Ecumenism and Dialogue Commission of Cei.
