” “"Reviewing the innovation policy to make it an integral part of the EU agenda for competitiveness". Mauri Pekkarinen, Finnish Minister of Trade and Industry, is the "host" at the informal meeting on Competitiveness which is in progress in Jyväskylä, a town of the Scandinavian country, which has the EU chair for the next six months. The meeting is due to last until tomorrow. One further session has been planned for July 24th in Brussels to discuss the domestic market, competitiveness and research (including the Seventh Framework Program which allocates finds to research into on embryo stem cells). Tomorrow, the economy and finance ministers are awaited in Brussels for the Ecofin. For the EU Parliament, these are the last workdays before the summer holidays: tomorrow, there will be a meeting of the Development (Deve), Gender Equality and Women’s Rights (Femm) and Constitutional Affairs (Afco) Committees. Finally, from tomorrow to July 13th the schedule sees Naantali (Finland) host a workshop about climate change and the defence of the environment, which will be attended by about one hundred experts from the 25 member states and the candidate states.” “
