"Travels abroad accounted for 43% of the total, two thirds of which to other EU countries and one third outside the EU". The most common transport mode is private car (58% of holidays), followed by plane (25%), train and caravan. "The majority of people from Greece, Spain, France and Poland spend their holidays in their homeland", with an average in excess of 80%. People from Luxembourg inevitably choose foreign destinations (99%), followed by Belgians (79%), Irish, Slovenians and Danes. In absolute figures, the greatest accommodation capacity remains that of Italy (126 million overnight stays/hotel), followed by Spain (120 million), Germany and France (83) and the United Kingdom (80).
