“I always tend to look with sympathy and hope at the youth world. I think in all young people there are values and a huge potential to be developed”. This was said to SIR by mgr. Josep Àngel Saíz Meneses, bishop of Terrassa and director of the Youth Department of the Spanish Bishops Conference in the run-up to the youth meeting in Javier (www.jovenesjavier2006.org), Navarra, due from August 4th to 6th 2006. "Go all over the world", is the subject of the meeting which, taking inspiration from the figure of Saint Francis Xavier, a Jesuit and the patron saint of youth and missions, fittingly takes places in the city where the saint was born 500 years ago, and aims at responding to Benedict XVI’s exhortation in Cologne to "follow the example of the revolutionary saints of society". “A missionary in so many countries, from Brazil to Japan and Indonesia goes on mgr. Saíz Meneses about Francis Xavier -, I ask the Lord that he may allow us to imitate his love of God and his adapting to different people and situations, so that the young may become young saints like him”.
