After saying the Angelus prayer, the Pope expressed "growing concern" for what is happening in Iraq and the Holy Land. "Before the blind violence that commits atrocious slaughters on one side, and the threat of the worsening of the crisis that has recently become even more dramatic, on the other side highlighted Benedict XVI we need justice, a serious and trustworthy commitment to peace: which unfortunately are nowhere to be seen". Hence his invitation "to join in a trustful and persevering prayer" so that "none will shirk the responsibility of building a peaceful cohabitation, recognising that every man, no matter where he comes from, is a brother". The Holy Father also mentioned that from today to July 5th a summit of religious leaders is due in Moscow, organised by the Inter-religious Council of Russia. On the invitation of the Patriarch of Moscow, the Catholic Church will attend it with a delegation. "The significant gathering of so many leaders of the religions of the world commented the Pope shows there’s a shared wish to promote dialogue between civilisation and the search for a fairer and more peaceful world order. I hope that through everyone’s sincere commitment, areas of effective cooperation can be found, in mutual respect and understanding, to cope with today’s challenges".
