EUROPE: CoE, 40 YOUNG PEOPLE FROM THE BALKANS AND THE MIDDLE EAST TO RUST (GERMANY) FOR THE "PEACE CAMP"

"Gathering young people from conflict areas to teach them how to overcome their prejudices and stereotypes". This is the stated purpose of the third Peace Camp, promoted by the Council of Europe, in Rust. The Europa-Park of the German town will see the gathering, until July 8th, of forty young people, including "Albanians, Serbians from Kosovo, youth from Israel and Palestine, aged 18 to 22", for an event that is related to the campaign of the CoE, "All different, all the same", for "diversity, participation and human rights", opened a few days ago in Strasbourg. The schedule of the camp includes moments of studying, discussions, socialisation and sports. "At a time when conflicts turn out to be extremely topical, these camps – explains Ralf René Weingärtner, director of the Youth and Sports Department of the Council of Europe – help strengthen the youth’s awareness of cultural and social differences and common features, and encourage dialogue".
