BENEDICT XVI IN GERMANY: AT REGENSBURG, "AN EXPERT HAND" TO "BRING DISCORDS BACK TO THE RIGHT CONSONANCE"

” “"As in an organ an expert hand must always bring discords back to the right consonance, likewise in the Church, in the variety of gifts and charismas, we always have to find accord, through communion in faith, in the praise of God and in brotherly love". This was said by the Pope, as he blessed today the new organ of the "Alte Kapelle" of Regensburg. "The more, through the Liturgy, we let ourselves be transformed in Christ – he went on – the more we will be able to transform the world as well, by radiating goodness, mercy and love for the men of Christ". "In an organ, the many pipes and registers must form a unity", commented the Pope as he defined the organ an "image of our community", and making thus an appeal, by analogy, to the church community: "If something gets stuck somewhere, if a pipe is out of tune, at first this can be perceived maybe only by some experienced ear. But if several canes are out of tune, then there are false notes and the thing starts to become unbearable". "With their music, the great composers wanted, after all, each one in his way, to glorify God", concluded the Pope as he mentioned the letters "S.D.G." (Soli Deo Gloria) with which Bach used to seal many of his scores.” “
