” “The Vatican diplomat invited them to look at these figures about improvement in the light of the "dramatic conditions that affect a considerable number of less developed countries, such as war, ecological decay, desertification, long-lasting hunger and undernourished children”, as well as "the plague of Aids, malaria, tuberculosis and other poverty-related diseases”. Add to this "the unstoppable flows of people moving from the impoverished regions to the more developed areas”: a “dramatic situation", which, according to mgr. Migliore, requires "authentic, global commitment to quickly achieve the goals of the Brussels Plan of Action”. In addition to the two pillars of such plan – an essential quality of life and political and economic conditions – mgr. Migliore thinks "the creation of dignified jobs" is essential too: three factors that in his opinion are "inseparable and interdependent", and which are feasible only "in an atmosphere of peace, good governance and favourable external macro-economic conditions”.
