” “The yearly meeting of the migrants’ pastoral national directors is opening in Siguenza (Spain) today, and it will last until Sunday 24th. The subject of the meeting is “Migration and the young: one chance for the Church and society in Europe”. The meeting was promoted by the Council of European Bishops’ Conferences (CCEE). About fifty delegates will take part in it, including bishops, experts and the national directors in charge of migration of the 25 European Bishops’ Conferences. There will also be the representatives of the Holy See, COMECE and Caritas Europe. The people in charge of the European Bishops’ Conferences are meditating on the role and the importance of the young in the migrants’ pastoral for the first time. The young, – said Msgr. Piergiorgio Saviola, director of CEI’s Fondazione Migrantes, who was also present in Siguenza, – are "the most favourite, and perhaps the promptest one to look at migration as a fundamentally positive phenomenon. At the same time, they are ready to play their roles to overcome the inevitable difficulties always included in migratory movements”. According to Msgr. Saviola, the young are a “frontier laboratory to break down the barriers in the interdenominational and interreligious path, in an atmosphere of real brotherhood and friendliness”. The meeting is ending on Sunday, with the approval of the final document.” “
