EUROPE: DA SILVA (MIGRATION IN FRANCE), "THE YOUNG ARE NOT THE FUTURE" BUT THE "PRESENT"

” “”The young are not alien to our society: they are the barometer of both society and our Church”: this was stated this morning by Josè da Silva, director of the Pastoral of Migrants of the French Bishops Conference, as he spoke at the annual meeting of the national directors for the pastoral of Migrants of the European Bishops Conferences, which is in progress in Siguenza, Spain. According to Da Silva, the young "are not the future of our society and our Church but the present. They drive us to become aware of the emergence of a new people that we cannot absolutely ignore. At the same time, we must not wait for them to grow up or get old to consider them an integral part of our society”. The young – concluded the director of the pastoral of Migrants in France – they ask questions to which "we must give factual answers without waiting, if we really want them to become an opportunity for our Church and society". This day of the meeting was opened by a moment of prayer, reflection and commemoration of the victims of migration in Europe and across the world.” “
