” “According to the director of the Vatican newsroom, father Federico Lombardi, who is also the director of the Vatican TV Station and will give a speech at the World Congress of Catholic TVs (Madrid, 10-13 October), the Church, through its media, intends “to put communication always at the service of communion, that is, mutual understanding, dialogue and peace”. A commitment involving different levels explained this morning father Lombardi as he presented the congress: “A specifically local level, a regional or national one, a universal one (that of the Pope’s service for the union of the Church). Levels that “must supplement each other although remaining complementary to each other, because each one has its specific sphere and resources”. Therefore, the World Congress is going to be, according to the director, an opportunity “of mutual help to carry out better, together, our evangelical and human service”. The initiatives to be launched in Madrid, explained Leticia Soberón, member of the Organising Committee, include a “Bank of programs for an easier free exchange of TV programs between different institutions. This plan is the consequence of the concern of the bigger TVs for the smaller and poorer ones”.
