An immediate stop to violence and a quick return to the real needs of the Palestinian people. Worried about the worsening in the relations between the two main Palestinian parties, Fatah and Hamas, the thirteen religious leaders of Jerusalem sent a message today to the Palestinian people, which says: "the time has come for the parties to reach an agreement, to work at independence and to offer the peoples of this Holy Land, Christians, Jews and Muslins, security and peace. All attempts at mediation have failed; accusations and threats have caused a violence that it is difficult to stop now. The threatening language of the two party leaders is unprecedented. All this can only lead to a civil war, which will hide the real needs of the Palestinian people. Fights and abductions declare the dealers will not pull down the dividing wall, nor will they put a stop to the embargo". There is the need therefore for "a change, especially to rescue the children and the young people who deserve a better future". The signing parties say they are "ready to play their part, either as mediators or in any other way that may be required to help our people. It is vital to give unity back to the Government, strengthen the security forces, remove the weapons from the streets and encourage Palestinians and Israelis to go back to the negotiation table".” ” ” “
