BENEDICT XVI: "THE FAMILY AS A TEACHER OF HUMAN AND CHRISTIAN VALUES", THE SUBJECT OF THE WORLD MEETING IN MEXICO 2009

"As the first school of life and faith, and as a ‘domestic church’, the family is called to teach to the new generations the human and Christian values so that, by steering their lives towards Christ’s model, they will shape a harmonious personality in them": it was said today by Benedict XVI in a letter to cardinal Alfonso Lòpez Trujillo, president of the Papal Council for the Family, in which he says that the VI World Meeting of the Families, due to take place in the archdiocese of México (Mexico), will be held from 16th to 18th January about: “The family, as a teacher of human and Christian values". "In this task, so decisive for the human person", highlights the Pope, the family "must rely on the support of the school, the parish and the different ecclesial groups that promote the integral education of the human being". "At a time at which a separation is frequently felt between what one says one believes in and the way one actually lives and behaves – states the Pope –, the next World Meeting of the Families will aim at encouraging the Christian households to teach a right moral conscience".
