The joint session of the Synod of the Waldensian and Methodist Churches and the General Assembly of the Baptist Evangelical Christian Union of Italy (Ucebi) will open in Rome on November 2nd (until 4th November) with the motto “Together for what together for whom”. It is the fourth time since 1990 that the greatest deliberative assemblies of the Baptist, Methodist and Waldensian Churches (BMV) have met in a joint session to discuss shared problems and prospects of evangelical testimony in the country. Whilst "Waldensians and Methodists explains in ain interview to NEV Maria Bonafede, chairwoman of the Waldensian Table have succeeded in drawing strength and richness from their integration", "with the Baptist denomination the process is different: we remain different churches, but the goal of a common preaching and testimony is a priority". A reunification with the Baptists explains Fcei does not seem to be on the agenda, partly because, while over the last 17 years there has been a growth in the local cooperation between the pastors and the recognition of the ministry, differences remain about baptism.
