SIR EUROPA: WALLSTROM (EU COMMISSION), "BETTER COMUNICATION WITH CITIZENS A NECESSITY FOR THE EU" (2)

Many ideas have been put forward today by the EU Executive to improve communication between the EU citizens and the EU institutions. First and foremost, they suggest that "the aspects of schooling in which a joint action within the EU might act as a support for the member states should be defined"; that opinion polls should be improved; that "an online audiovisual strategy should be developed over the next few months". In addition, deputy president Margot Wallström would like to "have an electronic online information network to improve communication between European and national political leaders, journalists and other opinion-makers". Another idea (now the document will be reviewed by the EU Council and the EU Parliament) is to "develop the network of European Public Spaces in the offices of the EU Commission and EU Parliament", which already exist in the capitals and in some metropolises in all the member states, the premises of which "might host exhibitions, debates and concerts".
