SIR EUROPA: CCEE MEETING, MARRIAGE AND FAMILY, INSTITUTIONS "UNDERMINED" BY DIFFERENT LEGISLATIONS

” “"Entrusting Europe to the Virgin of Fatima": this is the proposal put forward by mgr. Alojzij Uran, president of the Slovenian Bishops Conference, and announced on opening the plenary meeting of the European Bishops Conferences (Ccee), which began in Fatima tonight. The proposal will be explained and outlined tomorrow morning. "At this meeting – stated card. Péter Erdõ, archbishop of Budapest and president of Ccee, in presenting the meeting –, we will speak in particular of marriage and family, institutions that are deeply rooted in the human nature itself but which are undermined or even newly defined by the legislation of each European country". In this respect, the cardinal announced a "very short report on the situation of each European country about the latest developments in their matrimonial legislations, especially about any planned or completed change in the view of marriage, so that it will no longer mean a communion of life between a man and a women". The president of Ccee announced that, during the meeting, they will discuss a few pastoral topics, especially those connected with the practice of mixed marriages". Another item on the agenda is ecumenical dialogue, with special reference to relations with the Orthodox Churches.” “
