The works of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, which dealt with lots of topics during the week, are ending today with the speech of Human Rights Commissioner Thomas Hammarberg, and a debate on home violence against women. PACE rejected the "principle of unilateral prevention war" yesterday, taking into consideration the "disastrous consequence produced recently". The members of the parliamentary assembly upheld the role of UNO, asked for the reformation of the Security Council, and supported "multilateralism and the principle of collective response to world threats", starting from terrorism. Then, the assembly "strongly condemned forced prostitution and human being trade", insisting on the subscription of the COE Convention for fighting human being trade by all member states. Furthermore, the members of parliament asked “all states to forbid prostitution" of the young under 18, which "can never be considered voluntary". However, PACE also thought the states “should refrain from repressing prostitutes, especially on the legal level, with discriminatory rules driving them underground". On the other hand, programmes are necessary to help the prostitutes who intend to abandon "the job".
