From 10th to 14th October, the community of Taizé will hold a meeting in Cochabamba, Bolivia, which will gather seven thousand young people from all over the Latin American continent. "This country reads a release sent today by the community , which this year has experienced strong political tensions, has been chosen because it is one of the poorest in the continent. The majority of the population are natives. The meeting in Bolivia, which follows the Asian meeting in Calcutta (October 2006) and which will be followed by a youth meeting in Geneva (from 28th December 2007 to 1st January 2008), is a new step in the pilgrimage of hope on earth, which had been started by Frère Roger over 30 years ago". As well as young people from all over the Latin American continent, many young people from the Bolivian countryside have registered for the meeting. In Bolivia explain the frères of Taizé , the gap between the poor of the suburbs and the middle classes of the cities is wide. So we decided that the young people from the countryside as they could not afford to pay the registration fee will make a contribution in the form of eggs and potatoes. Frère Alois, prior of Taizé, will attend the meeting and every evening he will hold a meditation at the Exhibition Park of Cochabamba.
