To the rulers of the two continents, the bishops recommend to take a few measures, especially: "Eradicate the rising problems of children’s labour and the trade of human beings, sexual abuse and the exploitation of women and children. It’s a real outrage". The African and European bishops also ask to put an end to the "ongoing exploitation of the resources of Africa and its consequences", recalling that the "brain drain" of professionals from Africa, "such as doctors, nurses, businessmen and other skilled professionals", as well as the "loss of African minerals and natural resources in the mining industries owned by foreign businessmen, are problems that directly concern us". The bishops ask their governments to "reverse the current exploitation trend" through "the ratification, implementation and strengthening of the different Conventions" that have been accepted by the African and European governments and by means of the required legislations. They ask to do more to achieve the Objectives of the Millennium and to "provide the financial aids that are too often forgotten". (continued)
