” “On Monday 12th November at 12.00 am (Sala Marconi, Vatican Radio Station), Rome will host the press conference for the presentation of the new edition of the Lectionary in three volumes for the Sunday and holiday cycles of the readings for the years A, B, C, respectively. The lectionary is a liturgical book all about God’s Word and its proclamation in the Liturgy. The new edition, explains mgr. Giuseppe Betori, secretary general of the Italian Bishops Conference, "is consistent with the ancient liturgical books for the proclamation of God’s Word. From them it takes the preoccupation to present God’s Word in a noble, well presented, dignified form, enriched by the work of human genius". In a release published today, the Italian Bishops Conference states that "it is the first time within the Catholic Church that a Lectionary is published with a new translation after the publication of the Instruction Liturgiam authenticam, which sets forth the criteria for the translation of liturgical texts into modern languages. Following the publication of the Nova Vulgata, the translation that is currently used had to be revised on the basis of the original texts. It was an opportunity to remove mistakes and provide a translation that is more faithful as well as easier on the ear". (continued)” “
