Today and tomorrow, a delegation of French bishops, headed by mgr. Hippolyte Simon, archbishop of Clermont and deputy secretary general of the French Bishops Conference (Cef), will meet some delegates of the European institutions in Brussels. According to Cef, three meetings have been planned: one with the deputy president of the European Commission, Jacques Barrot, about the Modification treaty and the major European projects; one with Maria Martens and Marie-Arlette Carlotti, members of the Development Commission, with whom the bishops will speak of the future of the African, Caribbean and Pacific countries, and one meeting about the values of the European Union with Bronislaw Geremek, member of the Commission for foreign affairs and constitutional affairs.
