EUROPE: ŠPIDLA (EU COMMISSION), "YOUNG, DISABLED AND MIGRANT WORKERS STILL ON THE FRINGE OF THE JOB MARKET" (2)

” “The report on "flexi-security", along with that on social inclusion, both drawn up by the EU Commission, will be submitted to the Employment and Social Affairs Council of 22nd February, then they will be reviewed by the EU summit on 8th and 9th March. It should be followed by recommendations on economic and social policies for each country. "It is the first time – explains a release from the Executive – that the ministers adopt integrated national recommendations. It is an important step in the accomplishment of the EU’s employment and growth targets, since the member states will commit themselves to abiding by these recommendations". The main target is the creation of another 22 million jobs by 2010, partly in connection with the provisions of the Lisbon Strategy. In its document, the EU Commission acknowledges that "investments in education and professional training have increased", but "the measures to improve the ability to adapt – a priority of the European Employment Strategy – are still inadequate", in the light of the fact "the fast technological developments and the escalation of worldwide competition demand flexible job markets". As to "flexi-security", a communication from the EU Commission is expected to be issued before summer 2007.” ” ” “
