HOLY SEE: ON FRIDAY THE CONSISTORY FOR FIVE NEW BLESSED SOULS. CARD. POUPARD MEETS SHEIKH TANTAWI

On next Friday at 11 am, the Consistory Hall of the Vatican Apostolic Palace will host the Public Ordinary Consistory for the Canonisation of five blessed souls. It was announced today by the Office of the Liturgical Celebrations of the Holy See. The five new blessed souls will be Giorgio Preca, the founder of Societas Doctrinae Christianae; Simone da Lipnica, of the Franciscan Order of Friars Minor; Carlo di Sant’Andrea, of the Congregation of the Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ; Antonio di Sant’Anna, of the Order of the Friars Minor of Alcantara, the founder of the Monastery of the Sisters of the Conception “Recolhimento da Luz”; Maria Eugenia di Gesù, the founder of the Institute of the Sisters of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin. Also today the Holy See announced that card. Paul Poupard, President of the Papal Council for Inter-religious Dialogue and the Commission for Religious Relations with Muslims, was received by Sheikh Mohamed Sayyed Tantawi, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar al-Sharif. "Received in a climate of great friendliness – reads a note –, the cardinal gave to Sheikh Tantawi Benedict XVI’s wishes and the Pope’s invitation to meet him in Rome, an invitation he was pleased to accept".
