BENEDICT XVI: PRIESTS’ MEETING IN ROME; CARD. RUINI, "YOUR MAGISTERIUM HELPS US UNDERSTAND THE MYSTERY OF FAITH"

"On this day, on which we celebrate the Feast of Saint Peter’s Chair, I would also like to express to you, Holy Father, our common gratitude for your great Magisterium": with these words, card. Camillo Ruini, vicar general of His Holiness for the diocese of Rome, addressed the Pope during Benedict XVI’s meeting with the parish priests and the other priests of the diocese of Rome, which took place this morning in Aula delle Benedizioni, in the Vatican. "Many are your actions for the whole world, but also specifically for Rome and for Italy – added the cardinal –, which help us understand more deeply and with extraordinary clarity the Mystery of our faith both in itself and in its multiple implications on the reality of our life". Then, card. Ruini referred to the subject that is being developed this year in the diocesan pastoral, which "is the subject of the joy of faith and the education of the young generations". "Thus we continue – highlighted the cardinal – our commitment to prayer and mission, which is addressed mostly to the families, and try to help especially the young to meet the Lord Jesus Christ, as it is the young who are most exposed to secularisation and Christianisation processes, but who also deeply feel the need of a meaning for their life".
