” “Mixed marriages and the family in Europe: these will be high on the agenda of the meeting of the presidents of the Bishops Conferences of south-eastern Europe due from 1st to 4th March, in Oradea (Romania). In particular, the reflection will be focussed on marriages between one Catholic partner and a baptised person from a different Christian confession, and marriages between one Catholic partner and a non-baptised person. Seven Bishops Conferences will attend the meeting: Albania, Bosnia Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, the International Bishops Conference Saints Cyril and Methodius (Serbia Montenegro – FYROM) and Turkey. The meeting will also be attended by delegates of the Holy See to Romania and to the EU, some bishops from the Bishops Conference of Romania and the Secretary general of the Commission of the Bishops Conferences of the European Union (Comece). The meeting, promoted by the Council of the European Bishops Conferences (Ccee), will be hosted by the Bishops Conference of Romania and by the Greek-Catholic bishop of Oradea Mare, mgr. Virgil Bercea. The meeting will announce the results of the survey conducted by Ccee on the family in Europe and includes exchanges with the local community and delegates of the Orthodox Church as well as with public authorities.
