The work plan of the newly-elected president Hans-Gert Poettering, the preparation of the Summit of 8th and 9th March about economic and energy issues, the problem of waste production and disposal in the member states, the reform of the wine market. These are some of the key items on the agenda of the plenary session of the EU Parliament, due to take place from 12th to 15th February in Strasbourg. In addition, the MEPs will have to respond to a report drawn up by the Spanish Luis Yañez-Barnuevo García about the problem of the "policy of proactive prevention, protection and repression against terrorism, in compliance with fundamental rights". To do this, according to the report to be submitted to the floor, "intercultural dialogue must be promoted, and the reasons for hiring potential terrorists must be eradicated", "and the incitement to commit violence must be prohibited". In addition, more coordination between the member states, and between the member states and the international partners, as well as between the intelligence services, is desirable. "The fight against terrorism is a priority for the EU", because explains Yañez-Barnuevo García "currently it is one of the greatest threats to security, peace, stability and the democratic values of the international community".
