BENEDICT XVI: AUDIENCE TO COMUNIONE E LIBERAZIONE, "MAY THE MOVEMENTS FIT IN WITH THE CHURCH COMMUNITY TO SERVE IT"

” “New church movements are gifts of the Spirit, and, "if the Lord makes us new gifts we have to be grateful for them, even if they can be awkward. At the same time, since the Church is one, if the movements are really the gifts of the Holy Spirit, they must fit in with the Church community and serve it, so that they can contribute to the building of the Church of today and tomorrow". It was said by Benedict XVI, as he met, today in Saint Peter’s Square, the young people of Comunione e Liberazione, who ran to Rome for the XXV anniversary of the Papal recognition of the Fraternity, which is now present in 80 countries across the world. CL, said the Pope, "is a community experience of faith, born within the Church, not of an organisational will of the Hierarchy, but originated from a renewed encounter with Christ, and thus, as it were, from an impulse that ultimately comes from the Holy Spirit". Quoting John Paul II, the Pontiff recalled that "the unique intuition of Communion and Liberation lies in proposing again, in a fascinating manner, in tune with the contemporary culture, the Christian event, which is experienced as the source of new values and able to steer one’s whole life". In concluding the audience, Benedict XVI renewed to the CL youth the task that had been entrusted to them by John Paul II: "go all over the world to bring the truth, beauty and peace that can be found in Christ the Redeemer".” “
