COMECE: A WEBSITE TO RELIVE THE INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS OF ROME

www.rome-2007. eu is the address of the website that the Commission of the EU Bishops Conferences (Comece) has launched online and where one can consult all the materials that concern the international conference held in Rome from 23rd to 25th March for the 50th anniversary of the Treaties of Rome. The website, which is in four languages, English, French, German and Italian, opens with a short explanation of the reasons that led Comece to highlight this occasion with an international conference, starting with the workshop of Clermont-Ferrand (October 2006), through the formation of the Committee of the Sages that drew up "the Message of Rome", to all the materials of the conference, which include a selection of the mspeeches of the main speakers of the congress, from the president of Comece, mgr. Van Luyn, to the president of the Italian Bishops Conference, mgr. Angelo Bagnasco, from the president of the European Parliament, Hans-Gert Pöttering, to institutional and church delegates, such as Marcelino Oreja and Sir Stephen Wall. Also about the conference, Comece SirEuropa developed the "The 50th anniversary of Europe" special (available for free on old.agensir.it), containing all the agency’s news, including news on the Berlin Summit, the European institutions and the Youth Summit.
