BENEDICT XVI AT THE ANGELUS: SATURDAY 10TH MARCH, VIGIL WITH THE UNIVERSITY STUDENTS OF EUROPE AND ASIA

After saying the Angelus, Benedict XVI thanked those who in the last few days have "seen him through his Spiritual Exercises by praying". "I encourage everyone – said the Pope –, at this time of Lent, to pursue silence and meditation so as to give more space to praying and meditating on God’s Word". Then, the Holy Father recalled that, Saturday 10th March at 4 pm, in Aula Paolo VI, he will officiate "a Marian vigil for the young university students of Rome", which "will be attended, by radio and TV links, by many students from other European and Asian countries as well". "We will invoke – he added – the intercession of Mary, ‘Sedes Sapientiae’, for the Lord to send witnesses of the evangelical truth, to build the civilisation of love in these two Continents and all over the world". When greeting the pilgrims in different languages, he addressed in particular the Polish pilgrims, wishing "the Lenten penance, the spiritual exercises and the heart-searching may help us find and meet Jesus again. This is the way to renew one’s spirit and change one’s heart". Among the Italians, he greeted the Salesians and the young from the "Don Bosco Tour".
