BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA: ECUMENICAL SUMMER CAMPS MEANT FOR "CATHOLICS AND ORTHODOXES"

An ecumenical camp for prayer and work, in summer, meant for "Catholics and Orthodoxes". It is one of the initiatives promoted by the Bosnian Church, illustrated today in Banja Luka by the delegations of CEI (National service for the young pastoral and Office for missionary cooperation among Churches), and of "Centro Giovanni Paolo II" from Loreto, visiting the Balkans to promote the "Agora of the young in the Mediterranean". "We have been relying of projects of exchange for students of theology for a few years. They go abroad for some weeks, in Germany, Italy, but above all, in Taizé", said Mario Vinkoja to SIR. Vinkoja is committed to interreligious dialogue and the young pastoral within the archdiocese of Sarajevo. The idea of "an ecumenical initiative similar to what happens in Taizè sprang from that, last summer, for the first time. The initiative is meant for Catholic and Orthodox students". In 2006, "150 young people coming from Germany and 78 Eastern Europe countries took part in it"; now, "it was decided to go on with this initiative, opened to everybody, but mainly to the young people living in Bosnia and Herzegovina". The next round will take place in the first half of August, in Modriča, and will be the right chance "not to talk about the political subjects dividing us, but to experience faith and spirituality".
