"Domestic violence against women let’s break silence" is the subject of the conference of the Council of Europe, which is going on this afternoon during the Woman’s International Day. The purpose of the meeting is sensitizing the people to the subject of domestic violence. The judges of the European Court of Human Rights are also taking part in this meeting. This purpose is part of the campaign currently carried out by the Council of Europe on a European level: "Stop domestic violence against women". During the meeting, the SOS Femmes Solidarité Association in Strasbourg will illustrate the concrete prevention and support actions available in the city, to help women that are victims of marital violence. From 1 to 15 March, among other things, the initiative promoted by the Council of Europe provides for a billsticking campaign against domestic violence, in the whole urban community of Strasbourg. Towards the end of March, the student associations in Strasbourg will take part in debates and laboratories in the universities of the city. This initiative will then we extended to about fifty towns in Europe. Parliamentary examinations will take place in Cyprus, Slovenia, Denmark, Lithuania, Azerbaijan, Sweden and Turkey. Finally, from 19 to 23 March, there will be the "Students Weeks", with conferences, projections and theatre improvisation.
