"The Holy Father, before entering the Basilica di San Pietro in Cieldoro, will bless the project and the first stone of the Augustinian Culture Club, which the Order is going to build and dedicate to ‘Benedict XVI’ due to the deep spiritual and theological bonds that exist between the Pontiff and the Father of the Church, Augustine": it was said this morning in the Vatican, during the press conference for the presentation of Benedict XVI’s pastoral visit to the dioceses of Vigevano and Pavia, by f. Robert Prevost, General Prior of the Augustinian Order. The new culture club which is to be built in Pavia, where the basilica di San Pietro preserves the remains of Saint Augustine, "intends to promote the spirituality and the philosophical and theological thinking of the bishop of Hippo went on f. Prevost as a school of spirituality, a place of evangelisation and promotion of the Augustinian philosophy for the Christian community, and as a landmark and a place of intercultural and inter-religious dialogue". Then, f. Prevost illustrated the other goals of the new culture club, such as the organisation of the "Augustinian Week of Pavia", studies, as well as on the Saint of Hippo, on Severinus Boethius and King Liutprando, whose graves are in the same basilica.
