BENEDICT XVI: AUDIENCE AT THE PAPAL FOUNDATION, "IN THE SERVICE OF THE WHOLE HUMAN FAMILY"

Today, Benedict XVI appreciated the "Papal Foundation", whose members are in Rome for the traditional yearly pilgrimage. Under the financial point of view, the Foundation sustains the mission of "taking Gospel round the world". He tackled several topics, from financing to parishes, churches, and sanctuaries, to the construction of houses for the homeless, the poor, or for helping victims of disasters, or to foster projects in favour of life. In particular, the Pope wanted to thank the representatives of the Foundation for their commitment in the field of education, in developing countries, also through scholarships at the papal universities, meant for laymen, priests and religious. "In this way – said Benedict XVI – you will pay a remarkable contribution to the training of the future leaders, whose minds and hearts will be trained in the light of the Gospel, of the social doctrine of the Church, and will be marked by a deep sense of communion with the universal Church, in the service of the whole human family". The Papal Foundation (www.thepapalfoundation.com) is operating in all continents, and wherever there is necessity. Among lots of ongoing projects, there is the one in Georgia, where the Foundation collaborates with the local Caritas for building houses for the homeless. The gathered money is invested in numerous activities and companies with ethical principles.
