CCEE: CARD. BOZANIC, "THE CHURCH IN EUROPE AND ITS MISSION IN THE WORLD"

"Europe has a special mission in the world, and thus, the Church in Europe feels and conceives its mission in a wider way", said Card. Josip Bozanic, archbishop of Zagreb and vice president of CCEE (Council of European Bishops’ Conferences), during the press conference taking place in Rome today, in the headquarters of Radio Vaticana, after the audience of the CCEE presidency before Benedict XVI, which Card. Bozanic described as "an open and concrete meeting". According to the vice president of CCEE, "Africa has often been forgotten in the world; it is a continent of young people, posing lots of challenges". Therefore, it is necessary to relaunch the collaboration of CCEE and SECAM (Symposium of Episcopal Conferences of Africa and Madagascar) in the four years from 2007 to 2010, within which four meetings are scheduled: "in November 2007 in Cape Coast (Ghana), on the subject of old and new slaveries, which sometimes are not recognized but are present in Europe, too – he said – ; in 2008 in Liverpool; in 2009 in Africa (in a still unknown place); and in 2010 in Rome". "Talking about what is made against man – he concluded – must be a commitment for everybody, and for the media, too".
