In a telegram signed by Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, secretary of State, the Pope expressed "hearty congratulations" for the international seminary which opened in the Vatican today, by initiative of the Papal Council of Justice and Peace, on the subject: "Climate change and development". By describing the initiative as "meant to delve into problems of remarkable environmental, ethical, economical, social and political importance, with consequences influencing, above all, the weakest sectors of society", Benedict XVI hopes it will "contribute to fostering research and promotion of lifestyles, production and consumption models based on respect for creation, and for the real needs of sustainable developments of peoples, taking into consideration the universal destination of properties, as repeatedly confirmed by the social doctrine of the Church".” ” ” “
