"We must not wait for the people to approach us; approaching the people is up to us". On 25 April, in Strasbourg, Commissioner Vladimir pidla opened the tour of the "Antidiscrimination Truck". The vehicle will visit 19 countries, covering over 18 thousand kilometres. "This mobile information platform will visit town centres, universities, work exhibitions and public events, with the aim of informing citizens on their rights in relation to parity treatment, and to promote the European Year of equal opportunities for everybody, being celebrated in 2007". On 27 April, the truck will be in Nancy (France); 7 May in Graz (Austria); 9 May in Maribor (Slovenia); and 18 May in Riga (Latvia). Then, it will go on to several other towns in Estonia, Lithuania, Hungary, Germany, Great Britain, Spain, Italy, and several more countries, concluding its journey in Lisbon (Portugal) on 21 November. "The tour will also touch the city of Szeged on 31 May said the commissioner, – to take part in a student event, and is going to be in Madrid on 29 June, for the diversity festival".
