Day three of Benedict XVI’s apostolic trip to Brazil for the V General Conference of the Latin American and Caribbean Episcopacy. After last night’s meeting with the young (at 00.30 am, Italian time), this morning the Pope (at 9.00 am local time, 02.00 pm Italian time) will go to Campo de marte in Sao Paulo, where he will pass amidst the faithful in an open-view car. At 9.30 am, local time (02.30 pm Italian time) he will celebrate Mass for the canonisation of the blessed Frei Galvão. In the afternoon (04.00 pm local time, 09.00 pm Italian time), the Holy Father will meet and will celebrate the Vespers with the Brazilian Bishops in the Cathedral da Sé, in Sao Paulo. At 06.00 pm, local time, he will take a helicopter to Aparecida, where he will land one hour later. About the Pope’s journey to Brazil, today SIR will be publishing an interview with Victor Manuel Ruano Pineta, from Guatemala, academic deputy director of the Theological Pastoral Institute for Latin America at Celam (Latin American Bishops Conference), which is based in Bogotà (Colombia).
