A centre for dialogue between different monotheistic religions, this is one of Tony Blair’s plans for his forthcoming retirement, according to the British Catholic weekly, “The Tablet”. When he leaves Downing Street, on June 27th this year, the Prime Minister would like to set up an international foundation for exchanges between Abraham’s three religions. The idea was applauded by the supporters of dialogue between the three faiths, such as Sir Sigmund Sternberg, co-founder of the “Three Faiths Forum”, one of the most important associations for the promotion of inter-religious dialogue. "I think it is an excellent idea. He is very persuasive and he can do good”, explains Sternberg, who adds that "inter-religious work must be extended, especially in the area of business. "Tony Blair has many friends and a deep knowledge of the world of faith and politics. I think his intentions are excellent". Words of appreciation have also come from Edward Kassler, executive director of the "Centre for relations between Christians and Jews", and Lord Brennan, president of the "Catholic Union" which is very busy in the area of inter-religious dialogue. “It is important explains the latter that the foundation will not just be one more big institution. Dialogue between thinkers of different faiths is essential, as is dialogue between young people”.
