A meeting of the university teachers of the 27 member States of the EU on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Treaties of Rome: it was proposed for next 21 to 24 June by the Council of the European Bishops Conferences (CCEE), in collaboration wit Italian and community institutions, starting from the subject: "A new humanism for Europe. The role of universities". "Continuing the path begun with the university jubilee explained the organizers, European teachers are invited to meet to share and project research lines, with the aim of meeting the expectations of European society and of new generations". Among others, the summit will be opened by Card. Camillo Ruini, vicar general of His Holiness for the diocese of Rome, and by the rector of the University of Vienna, Georg Winckler. Within the meeting, the programme includes 45 conferences on four themes: the human person, society, the vision of sciences, creativity and memory. Organized "in all the seats of the integrated Roman system", the conferences are meant to be the "expression of the different academic disciplines which, though with their specific contents and methods, are part of a unitary path of cultural elaboration, meant for the growth of the human person in all his dimensions".
